Frequently Asked Questions

Today's rhodium price per gram in India is shown at the top of this page. Rhodium is typically the most expensive of the traded precious metals, often priced at several multiples of gold, because global supply is extremely small.

Rhodium is almost never mined on its own — it's recovered as a byproduct of platinum and nickel mining, mostly in South Africa. That makes annual global supply tiny compared to gold, while demand from catalytic converters (where rhodium is especially effective at cutting NOx emissions) remains steady, keeping prices high and volatile.

The large majority of rhodium goes into three-way catalytic converters for petrol vehicles. Smaller amounts are used for rhodium-plating white gold and silver jewellery (for a bright, tarnish-resistant finish), in glass-fibre manufacturing, and in specialty chemical catalysts.

About Rhodium

1g Rhodium = ₹26,865.55 INR

Rhodium: The Rarest Precious Metal in Everyday Use

Rhodium is one of the rarest and most expensive precious metals in the world, at times trading for many multiples of the gold price. Its primary use is inside three-way catalytic converters, where it's especially effective at reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from petrol engines — a role platinum and palladium alone can't fully replace.

Global supply is dominated by South Africa, with a smaller share from Russia, and is almost entirely a byproduct of platinum and nickel mining rather than mined on its own. Because the market is so small and illiquid, rhodium prices can move dramatically on relatively modest shifts in auto-sector demand or mine supply — far more sharply than gold, silver, or platinum.

Outside the automotive sector, rhodium is used in electroplating (including the bright, tarnish-resistant rhodium plating applied to white gold and silver jewellery), in glass-fibre manufacturing, and in some specialty chemical catalysts.
