A jeweller sells a finished product, not just metal. BIS hallmarking, purity selection, wastage, design work and making charges all sit on top of the spot-linked benchmark, and GST applies on the full bill. We have not independently verified GRT's specific making-charge percentage, any current discount scheme, or their exact hallmarking process — so rather than guess, the honest answer is: ask the showroom for the line-item breakdown, or check GRT's own published rate card.
22K and 18K, derived from today's benchmark
22K gold, stamped 916, is what most everyday Indian jewellery — including the bulk of what a chain like GRT sells — is made from, because pure 24K is too soft for daily wear. 18K, stamped 750, holds up better in stone-heavy or fashion pieces. Today that works out to roughly ₹13,996.07 per gram for 22K and ₹11,451.33 for 18K, before any store adds its own charges.
